Special Election to Decide Liquor Sales in Henrietta

The sale of liquor within the City of Henrietta will be decided by the outcome of a special election by the City of Henrietta.

Early voting began Tuesday morning at the Henrietta City Hall for city residents to cast their vote on whether to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages in the City of Henrietta.

The special city election was called after a petition signed by 386 valid voters in support of liquor sales was brought to the city.

City Secretary Kathy Mills said that only 35 percent of valid voters in the city needed to sign the petition for the issue to be brought to a vote, and the petition received by the city had been signed by 44.68 percent of the valid voters in Henrietta.

Early voting in the special election continues at Henrietta City Hall, 101 N. Main Street, until election day, Nov. 6.
Election Day hours for Nov. 6 at city hall are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters within the City of Henrietta must vote at city hall on liquor sales, and then cast their ballot for candidates running for elected offices at their local voting precinct.

Early voting in the general election is currently taking place at the Clay County Courthouse Annex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Nov. 2.
